My comments were nothing like "boys will be boys" comments - that's just absurd.

It's not your job to have a polite conversation, yet by writing this piece, you knowingly invited conversation. Conversations don't have to be "polite" - no one is saying that. They can be difficult, but they can still happen.

And let's be real: someone living in poverty in rural America is going to have different priorities, like say, trying to get food on the table. They won't be running out and buying a book or taking an online class. That's why I am always for having a dialogue first - especially with people who are completely unfamiliar to these things.

You've regurgitated the same outraged rhetoric without actually listening to people, including myself, who are making sincere, thoughtful comments. You tell others to shut up and listen, but fail to do so yourself.

It's no wonder why people are leaving the left in droves. This kind of self-righteousness is incredibly off-putting -- and I'm saying this as someone who is far left.
